Gilmore: Lisbon debate dominated by misinformation

The Labour leader Eamon Gilmore has claimed that much of the Lisbon Treaty referendum debate has been taken up with manufactured controversies, conspiracies and misinformation.

The Labour leader Eamon Gilmore has claimed that much of the Lisbon Treaty referendum debate has been taken up with manufactured controversies, conspiracies and misinformation.

Mr Gilmore, who has been appearing before the Oireachtas Committee on European Affairs, says this has obscured many of the positive aspects of the treaty.

He says the Labour Party is asking for a ‘Yes’ vote in the best interests of Ireland and the EU.
