Six injured in Rush bus crash

Six people were taken to hospital today after a bus and a van collided.

Three passengers and a Dublin Bus driver, along with the driver and passenger of the van, were injured in the early morning crash in north Co Dublin.

The accident happened at 7.10am in Main Street, Rush.

When traffic was diverted to avoid the area, a second double-decker Dublin Bus collided with a car in Sandy Lane in the town.

Extra 33x bus services have been put on the route to take commuters into the city centre after the collapse of a bridge on the Dublin-Belfast line near Malahide last month.

Dublin Bus said 10 passengers were on board the bus involved in the first crash, a 33 service travelling from Dublin to Skerries.

A spokeswoman said 71 commuters were on the 33x service heading into the city which collided with a Golf GTi.

“Two passengers were taken to hospital and the two occupants of the car,” she continued. “All the roads are blocked and services are delayed.”

None of those taken to hospital are believed to have suffered serious injuries.
