2,000 gather to protest Government cutbacks

Around 2,000 people are marching to Leinster House in Dublin in protest over Government spending cuts.

Political parties, trade unions and many community groups united under the Alliance Against Cuts will then march to Anglo Irish Bank on Stephen’s Green to voice their anger over the banking crisis.

One of the groups represented is the Protest Against Child Unfriendly Budgets, which will also be hosting a protest in Cork today, which will be meeting 3pm at Saint Patricks Bridge.

Founder Treasa Dovander said families are already suffering because of Government cuts and proposals to tax child benefit are a step too far.
