Gormley: FÁS board should resign
Green Party leader John Gormley has said the board of FÁS should resign over the revelations of serious financial irregularities at the state training agency.
Yesterday, the Comptroller and Auditor General revealed that the agency wasted large amounts of money on advertising and promotion during the boom years.
It exceeded its only advertising budget by almost 40% and spent more than €600,000 on a television ad that was never broadcast.
Yesterday, the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Mary Coughlan, said she would accept the resignation of the FÁS board if it was offered.
However, Mr Gormley said today that the matter was one for Ms Coughlan to deal with, but he believed the board should resign.
