Portuguese police are awaiting the results of a post mortem on the body of a 51-year-old Irishman who was found dead in the Algarve resort of Alvor over the weekend.
Donegal man Paul Houston, who ran a shoe store in Derry, was found lying on a street in the early hours of Sunday morning.
He was on a golfing holiday with his wife and friends and is believed to have been the victim of an attempted mugging.
The police are understood to be investigating the possibility that he was attacked by two men as he returned to his holiday accommodation at around 5am on Sunday morning.
