Stand-off at Cork house ends peacefully

A stand-off between gardaí and a man at a house in the Ballyvolane area of Cork has ended peacefully this lunchtime.

Gardaí had surrounded a house in Meadow Park after being called out to an incident at around midnight.

The armed Emergency Response Unit was sent to the scene at one stage while gardaí negotiated with the man.

However, the unit was later withdrawn and the man was arrested a short time later and taken to Bridewell garda station for questioning.
