New PSNI chief to start work at end of September

The new PSNI chief constable will take up his new post on September 22, it was confirmed this afternoon.

The new PSNI chief constable will take up his new post on September 22, it was confirmed this afternoon.

Matt Baggott was appointed to succeed Hugh Orde as the head of the police force in the North earlier this month.

The 50-year-old is currently chief of the Leicestershire police service.

He will be paid about €214,000 a year in his new role.
