Man due in court in connection with McDaid murder

A 28-year-old man is expected to appear in court in the North today charged with the murder of Kevin McDaid in Coleraine earlier this year.

The man has also been charged with the attempted murder of a second man in the Co Derry town on May 24.

Mr McDaid - a 49-year-old community worker - was beaten to death by a loyalist mob following Rangers' victory over Celtic in the Scottish league title race.

A 46-year-old man was also badly beaten by the gang.

The man due in court today is the 11th person to be charged in connection with the attack.
