Thirty staff to strike at Cork-Coca plant
Thirty staff at the Coca-Cola warehouse on the Carrigrohane Road in Cork are set to strike tomorrow morning.
It comes after unions and management failed to reach an agreement in discussions at the Labour Relations Commission (LRC).
The dispute resolves around the company’s plans to outsource jobs to third-party operators.
The Cork workers will be joined by approximately 130 union staff located at Coca-Cola premises throughout the country.
SIPTU served strike notice on the company after a meeting in the LRC at which the company said it would only discuss its plan for redundancies and outsourcing of jobs.
A SIPTU spokesman said staff in the Cork plant would be placing pickets from 8am tomorrow. A spokesperson for Coca-Cola was unavailable for comment.
