A woman is in a critical condition in hospital after being hit by a lorry in Derry.

A woman is in a critical condition in hospital after being hit by a lorry in Derry.

It happened near the Everglades Hotel on the Victoria Road at around 10.30pm last night.

The 42-year-old was initially brought to Altnagelvin Hospital before being transferred to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.

The road remains closed this morning for a technical examination of the scene.

The PSNI is appealing for witnesses to contact them.
