Talks between management and unions at the 4Home DIY store in Mitchelstown, Co Cork, are due to resume on Monday after being adjourned yesterday.

The two sides are meeting under the auspices of the Labour Relations Commission in an effort to resolve a row over the closure of the outlet.

Workers were told last week that the shop would be closing on Sunday and they would only be receiving their statutory redundancy entitlements.

They subsequently mounted a sit-in protest to demand improved severance terms.

The Mandate trade union says progress in the talks is slow and both sides will have to focus on finding a solution when they meet again on Monday.
