Post mortem expected on Canada drowning victim
A post mortem is expected to be carried out today on the body of a young Irish man who drowned while swimming in Canada yesterday morning.
The 20-year-old, who has been named as has been named as Paraic McKeown from Co Louth, was swimming with two friends off Centre Island in Toronto when he got into difficulty.
The local emergency services recovered him from the water, but efforts to resuscitate him failed.
The Department of Foreign Affairs is providing assistance to to Mr McKeown's family, who live near Drogheda.
Canadian police are investigating the incident, but say there is no indication of foul play.
