Four arrested over gangland killing

Three men and a woman were arrested last night over a gangland killing in a pub.

The four were detained in a series of planned raids and searches at a number of premises in Dublin city.

Two firearms and ammunition were also seized.

They were being questioned over the shooting dead of John Carroll, who was gunned down in Grumpy Jacks bar in The Coombe, in the south inner city in February.

Carroll, a father-of-three, was shot dead when a gunman wearing a motorcycle helmet burst into the pub singled out his victim and opened fire.

Two of the arrested men were aged in their 30s and 50s, the third is a teenager and the woman is in her mid 20s.

The four were being held in Dublin city garda stations under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
