A boat involved in the Corrib gas project which struck rocks in Broadhaven Bay, Co Mayo is being towed to shore.

The Flamingo, a 25-metre boat with a crew of five, is now leaking oil and is being towed to the Broadhaven lighthouse.

The remaining 25 tonnes of fuel will then be removed and the vessel towed for examination.

The incident happened just before 5.30am this morning and none of the crew members is thought to be injured.

Ballyglass Lifeboat Station is co-ordinating the operation and the lifeboat is in the area this morning.
