Pensioner beaten up by masked man

An 81-year old man was beaten around the face and head during a raid at his home today.

The pensioner sustained bruising when he was attacked by a masked man who forced his way into his house in Ballykinlar, Co Down at around 3.30am.

Another man was also involved in the incident on the Shore Road.

A number of rooms were ransacked but the man, who was left badly shaken, has not as yet been able to tell officers whether anything was taken.

It is believed the assailants may have been driving a black Renault Clio.

Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward.
