Six students attending Irish college in the Gaeltacht in Donegal have been sent home after contracting swine flu.

Six students attending Irish college in the Gaeltacht in Donegal have been sent home after contracting swine flu.

The students, who come from across the North and did not all attend the same school, were part of a group of 300 attending Coláiste Mhuire Loch an Iuir.

The situation is being monitored by west Donegal public health authorities.

Meanwhile, the HSE has warned of more deaths from swine flu here after a young woman became the first Irish person to die from the virus.

The woman who was from the west of Ireland and who had underlying medical problems died at Tallaght Hospital yesterday afternoon.
