Favourite pulls out of race to become PSNI Chief Constable

The front-runner to succeed Hugh Orde as Chief Constable of the PSNI has dropped out of the race.

Merseyside police chief Bernard Hogan Howe had been tipped as the favourite to take on the post.

But he's now withdrawn from the contest, leaving the other four short-listed candidates to go forward for interview next week.
