An army bomb disposal team has removed a hand grenade found on waste ground in Dublin yesterday evening.

The Defence Forces were alerted by gardaí and arrived at the scene on Bulfin Road in Inchicore shortly after 5pm.

Investigations are continuing into the incident.

Meanwhile, gardaí are continuing to investigate a small bomb explosion that damaged the front of a house in Rathfarnham on Saturday night or Sunday morning.

The house was unoccupied at the time and the owner only spotted the damage when he returned home on Sunday morning.
