Man quizzed over armed robbery

A man was being questioned by gardaí today over an armed robbery in a car park.

The 28-year-old was arrested in the early hours of this morning in Dublin city centre on suspicion of carrying out the raid with another man.

Two staff members were tied up and assaulted during the robbery in the car park on Mercer Street, near St Stephen’s Green shopping centre, at noon yesterday.

It is understood almost €60,000 was stolen from the premises.

The two raiders fled in a Northern-registered black-coloured saloon car, believed to be an Audi A4.

The suspect is being held at Harcourt Terrace Garda Station under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, where he can be detained for 72 hours.
