Rescue underway in Co. Clare cave

A rescue operation has been launched in Co. Clare for a woman stuck in a cave.

The alarm was raised at about 3pm this afternoon, when the woman got trapped in the cave at Pol Ailbhe, about three miles north of Lisdoonvarna.

Valentia Coastguard is co-ordinating the rescue effort, which includes local emergency services and the Doolin coastguard.

It is understood the woman has been located and an operation is now underway to bring her out of the cave.
