Union: Permanent TSB staff 'physically threatened'

The UNITE trade union says its members in Permanent TSB branches have been bearing the brunt of customer anger over its planned increase to its variable interest rate.

The rate will go up by half a percentage point from Monday.

The union says there was no advance warning for staff and in some cases abuse directed at staff has crossed the line, with some workers being physically threatened.
