A Tipperary man who was caught transporting almost €2.85m worth of drugs and 27 working pistols, ammunition and silencers has been sentenced to 12 years in prison by Judge Patrick McCartan.

A Tipperary man who was caught transporting almost €2.85m worth of drugs and 27 working pistols, ammunition and silencers has been sentenced to 12 years in prison by Judge Patrick McCartan.

Thomas Mulqueen (42) of Connolly Street, Nenagh, was paid €4,000 to pick up the haul in Swords. He had been given €10,000 to pay to the driver of a jeep who had the €2.7m worth of heroin, €55,000 worth of cannabis and the firearms stored in the back of his vehicle.
