Dempsey: No plans to reduce minimum wage
Minister for Transport Noel Dempsey has said that there are no proposals before Government to reduce the minimum wage.
Leading economist Peter Bacon yesterday said that downward adjustments in the national minimum wage could not be avoided.
Senior Cabinet members have said that everything must be on the table when considering savings.
But Dempsey says cutting the rate alone would not be a sure-fire solution to our financial difficulties.
