One of the main groups representing electrical contractors in Ireland has accepted the Labour Court's recommendations for resolving the electricians' pay dispute.

The court has recommended that electricians receive a phased 4.9% pay increase that has been overdue to them for some time.

The TEEU has already accepted the proposal and has called off strike action that disrupted construction sites and manufacturing facilities across the country last week.

This morning, the Electrical Contractors' Association also decided to accept the recommendation.

The other main employers' group - the Association of Electrical Contractors of Ireland - is expected to vote on the matter this weekend.
