Taxpayer-backed firms axe thousands of jobs

Home-grown companies funded by Enterprise Ireland are axing almost twice as many jobs as they create, it was revealed today.

The state development agency’s annual report shows the taxpayer-backed firms took on 10,522 new recruits last year as they secured more than €1bn in export sales.
