Contractors to discuss proposal on electricians’ pay

Two groups representing electrical contractors are due to meet this morning to discuss the Labour Court's recommendations on electricians' pay.

The court has recommended that electricians receive a phased 4.9% pay increase that has been due to them since last year.

The TEEU, whose members went on strike last week due to the previous failure to pay the increase, has already accepted the court's proposals.

However, it has warned that it will reinstate the strike if employers do not respond positively.

The Electrical Contractors Association - which is attached to the Construction Industry Federation - is meeting this morning to discuss the matter.

The leadership of the Association of Electrical Contractors of Ireland is also due to discuss the pay recommendation before arranging a ballot of its members on Saturday.
