Beech Unit at Cherry Orchard Hospital to remain open

The Beech Unit at Cherry Orchard Hospital in Dublin is to remain open, it was confirmed this afternoon.

The HSE had been planning to close the unit and move the long-term patients into private nursing homes.

Some beds will still be lost, but a decision on how many are to go is not expected until next week
