UN Chief meets with Defence Minister

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon has held a meeting with Minister for Defence Willie O'Dea in Dublin.

The subject of additional support for Irish troops in Chad was amongst the topics addressed in the course of this afternoon’s discussions.

Minister O'Dea said his department would look favourably on any proposals on the issue from the UN.

The General Secretary also emphasised the importance of the UN’s rapid response plan, and thanked Ireland for its support of it.
