Minister admits businesses are struggling to get credit

The Junior Enterprise Minister Billy Kelleher admits that the Government is well aware that small and medium-sized businesses are having difficulty getting credit.

Mr Kelleher was responding to questions from Labour's Willie Penrose who said businesses are closing down because the banks are refusing to provide adequate cash flow.

The Dáil was told that banking practices have changed dramatically in the past two years because of the decline in the economy.

Minister Kelleher says businesses now have to adhere to different rules in order to get credit.
