Three closure orders served for food safety breaches

Environmental health officers served closure orders on three premises last month because of breaches of food safety legislation.

The Food Safety Authority says the premises in question were Nupur Tandoori restaurant on the Rock Road in Booterstown, Dublin; Nwaneto Shopping Plaza Supermarket in Balbriggan, Co Dublin; and Harvest Moon Fish Sales in Duncormick, Co Wexford.

Closure orders are served when inspectors believe there is, or is likely to be, a grave and immediate danger to public health.

The FSA says the HSE also successfully prosecuted the operator of Akanchana's Honey Pot on Parnell Street in Dublin last month for breaches of food safety legislation.

The closure order for the Nwaneto Shopping Plaza Supermarket was lifted on June 30 and the closure order for the Nupur Tandoori restaurant was lifted on July 2.
