The jury in the trial of a Co Clare teacher accused of sexual assault has been sent home overnight after it failed to reach a verdict on eight remaining counts of abusing two boys.

The 38-year-old man, who can not be named for legal reasons, was last week acquitted of 10 counts of sexual assault against a then 10-year-old boy.
