Gardí are continuing to investigate the fatal shooting of a 32-year-old father-of-two in west Dublin over the weekend.

Wayne Doherty was blasted with a shotgun outside his parents' home in the Oakview Way area of Hartstown on Saturday night.

He was rushed to Connolly Hospital, where he died a short time later.

Reports this morning say gardaí believe the shooting may be linked to a row at a social event in a pub earlier on Saturday night.

The dead man reportedly tried to intervene when a group of attackers arrived in Oakview Way with the intention of shooting another man.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information about the killing to come forward.
