Average public sector earnings up 3.4% in past year

Average weekly earnings in the public sector rose by 3.4% between March 2008 and March 2009, according to the latest figures from the CSO.

The CSO says average weekly pay in the public sector (excluding the health service) was just over €973 in March of this year.
