A 21-year-old man will appear in court later today charged with intimidating Romanians in the North.

The suspect is also accused of provocative behaviour during disturbances earlier this month which saw more than 100 migrants flee their homes in south Belfast.

He will attend Laganside magistrates court in Belfast.

The Romanians, including a five-day-old baby girl were forced to seek sanctuary in a church hall and a leisure centre after tensions rose in the region populated by students and other temporary workers.

Politicians have appealed for unity and the Romanian ambassador visited Belfast last week in a sign of solidarity with the displaced.

They have been given emergency accommodation in the city while they consider their futures.
