Ireland ranked sixth in Europe for road safety

The Road Safety Authority is welcoming the news that Ireland has been ranked the sixth safest country in Europe for road safety.

The European Transport Safety Council had previously ranked us ninth.

While 279 people died on the roads last year, 2008 is the safest year on record on Irish roads.

Brian Farrell of the RSA says it’s all down to a change in driver behaviour.
