Hanafin - no decision made on social welfare cuts

The Minister for Social and Family Affairs says the Government has made no decisions yet about cuts to social welfare rates.

Mary Hanafin today dismissed reports that the Government had decided to make sweeping cuts to social welfare, including reducing dole payments.

She also said there was no truth to rumours that the Christmas bonus - which was controversially scrapped in the last budget - may be reintroduced.
