DSPCA reports rise in abandoned horses

The Dublin Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals said it has seen an increase in the numbers of horses being abandoned by their owners.

The organisation said the animals are abused and tortured and found in barbaric conditions.

It said it is because of the rising cost of keeping the animals, combined with the drop in the market because of the economic downturn.
