Duo to be sentenced over Mountjoy contraband
A prison officer and an inmate are to be sentenced at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court in relation to the smuggling of contraband into Mountjoy Prison over a number of years.
Prison officer Dillon O'Brien (aged 27), of Charnwood Meadows, Clonsilla, pleaded guilty that "being a member of the prison service he did knowingly and without the authorisation of the governor conveyed a bottle of vodka and mobile phone to prisoner David Mulvey" in Mountjoy Prison on March 13, 2007.
Thomas Hinchon (aged 29), of St. Ronans Close, Clondalkin pleaded guilty to conveying a mobile phone and to conspiring with others to convey cannabis into Mountjoy Prison between January 2005 and March 2007.
Judge Katherine Delahunt remanded Dillon on continuing bail and Hinchon in custody until their sentence date in December when full facts will be heard.
