The Taoiseach, Brian Cowen, has defended the use of an Air Corps helicopter to take an unnamed Government minister to a football match last year.

Fine Gael's Michael Ring raised the issue in the Dáil today, saying a minister arrived at last year's Connacht Final by helicopter and was picked up by a state car.
