A memorial service has been held in Co Down for a young doctor killed in the Air France crash two weeks ago.

Eithne Walls, 28, from Ballygowan died along with her friends Aisling Butler, from Roscrea in Tipperary, and Jane Deasy from Dublin.

The three women had graduated in medicine from Trinity in 2007.

Meanwhile, a safety expert claims the Air France plane that crashed into the Atlantic sent out a message about a rudder problem before it disappeared.

The aircraft, with 228 people on board, transmitted a total of 24 automatic messages.
