Social welfare fraud complaints up 700%

The head of the social welfare services in Ireland has told an Oireachtas committee that complaints relating to social welfare fraud have increased by 700% over the past year.

However, Niamh O'Donoghue said many of the more than 2,000 complaints were found to be invalid.
