Former GAA president Séan Kelly has been elected for Fine Gael in the South constituency of the European elections, on the sixth count.

The 58,654 votes of eliminated Fine Gael candidate Colm Burke MEP were distributed, with Kelly gaining 36,318, putting him on 134,712, well above the quota of 124,532.
