Bishops to be briefed on child abuse talks with Pope
Ireland's Catholic bishops are due to be briefed today on last week's discussions between the Pope and two senior church leaders in Rome last week.
Cardinal Sean Brady and Dublin Archbishop Diarmuid Martin met Benedict XVI in the Vatican on Friday to discuss the fallout from the Ryan Report on institutional child abuse.
The bishops will be given details of the talks today at the start of a three-day meeting in Maynooth.
The religious orders involved in child abuse at State-owned institutions have already agreed to provide more money to victims and to facilitate an independent audit of their assets.
