Odds on FG/Labour coalition tumble

As counting of European election votes continues across the country bookmaker Paddy Power slashed the odds on a FG/Labour coalition forming the next Government from 4/7 to 1/2.

The odds on FG leader Enda Kenny becoming the next Taoiseach were also tightened to 8/15 from 4/7 ahead of what looks to be a very good result overall for the opposition party.

Sharon McHugh, spokesperson for Paddy Power, said: "All of the results aren’t in yet but that hasn’t stopped our punters speculating on the future of Irish politics.

"We’ve cut the odds on a FG/Lab coalition and Enda Kenny being the next Taoiseach who clearly think there’ll be big changes - and soon."
