Budget deficit up from €7.3 to €10.5 billion

The country recorded a budget deficit of €10.5 billion at the end May, it was revealed this afternoon.

The latest Exchequer figures show the tax-take from income taxes fell to €4.6 billion in the first five months of the year, compared to €4.9 billion for the same period last year.
