Dublin man seeks injunction against Garda leaks
The High Court has heard that a 33 year-old Dublin man is seeking to prevent the Garda Commissioner and gardaí from allegedly leaking information to the media linking him to gangland crimes.
Eamon Dunne from Finglas was looking for an injunction to stop the alleged leaks claiming that it constituted a threat to his life because it could lead to him being shot.
Mr Justice Bryan McMahon said that if there was a risk to his life, that threat was in existence whether or not he granted an injunction or not.
He said the newspaper articles in question had not identified Mr Dunne by name and that it was therefore a perception by him that these articles were referring to him.
The judge refused to grant an injunction but he did grant Mr Dunne an order for a full hearing of his case at the earliest possible date.
