Cowen says tax receipts will be on target

The Taoiseach, Brian Cowen, has indicated that Exchequer figures due to be published later today will be in line with the Government's expectations.

Figures published last month showed a massive €7.3bn deficit in the first four months of the year following a massive decline in tax receipts that was not foreseen by the Government.
