The Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health and Children is seeking an urgent meeting with the head of the HSE to discuss the future of Our Lady's Children's Hospital in Crumlin.

The Joint Oireachtas Committee on Health and Children is seeking an urgent meeting with the head of the HSE to discuss the future of Our Lady's Children's Hospital in Crumlin.

It follows revelations that the facility will have to close some of its wards, shut down theatres and reduce outpatient appointments in order to stay within budget this year.

The Health Committee has said that any reduction in services at the hospital is unacceptable.

It has written to the chief executive of the HSE, Professor Brendan Drumm, asking that he appears before the committee as soon as possible.
