Hearing to examine revised Corrib pipeline route

An Bord Pleanála is due to begin an oral hearing today into some of the outstanding planning issues related to Shell's controversial Corrib gas project.

An Bord Pleanála is due to begin an oral hearing today into some of the outstanding planning issues related to Shell's controversial Corrib gas project.

The hearing in Co Mayo is expected to last up to four weeks and will look at the revised onshore pipeline route linking the landfall at Broadhaven Bay to the Corrib gas refinery at Bellanaboy.

Up to 80 submissions are expected to be heard on the proposed route, while a second application by Shell EP Ireland for a compulsory acquisition order for access to private lands will also be dealt with.
