Poll shows 52% support for Lisbon Treaty
The Lisbon Treaty looks increasingly likely to be approved in a second referendum, according to an opinion poll published this morning.
Fifty-two per cent of respondents to the TNS/MRBI poll in the Irish Times said they would vote 'yes' to the treaty, an increase of one point since the last poll in February.
Twenty-nine per cent said they would vote 'no', a fall of four points.
Support for the treaty was found to be strongest among men, among better-off voters and among the older age groups.
Elsewhere, 79% of respondents thought it was better to be part of the EU in light of the current economic situation, a fall of one point over the past three months.
